Sculpture: Crow Down. Brass and Crow Feather.
© Michael Axel. All Rights Reserved.

For a couple of decades, I have studied the work of Alexander Calder. From his style, and colors, and techniques for connecting pieces. This sculpture adds the element of a magnificent crows feather, found on a long hike with my dog, Calvin, in the woods of the Deschutes National Forest.

Crows are curious creatures, but sure of who they are. They are not pushed around by many other animals, so finding a primary feather of one is a somewhat unique experience. Native Americans drew much symbolism from crows, and I can imagine, symbolism from finding a feather. They believed crows were shape shifters, and carriers of the soul from darkness into light. This sculpture measures approximately 24”x38”x14” (h x l x w).

Sorry; this sculpture is sold!
